The Next Chapter for the Ottawa Wolves: A Game-Changing Move to the GMHL
A month ago—almost to the day—I made a bold decision: accepting an offer for the Wolves to join the Klevr Super League (KSL). In hockey, a month feels like an eternity. And in that time, I’ve had countless conversations with families, coaches, and experts, all with one goal in mind—building a world-class hockey program right here in the nation’s capital.
Private hockey was a new concept for me. My kids had only played public hockey, so I dove in headfirst, listening to what families loved—and what they didn’t. I quickly realized that if we were going to make this work, we had to solve three major challenges:
✅ The HEO red tape.
✅ In some cases, cost.
✅ The constant travel.
I knew I could take on the HEO battle—using my experience and connections to hold them accountable. I also knew I could tackle the cost issue—by making the Wolves a non-profit and leveraging corporate sponsors to bring registration fees closer to public hockey.
But the travel? That was a tougher one. I love Ottawa. I love our city. Moving closer to Toronto was never an option.
And then, fate stepped in.
Introducing the GMHL: A New Era for the Wolves
Out of nowhere, an opportunity knocked—a Super League based out of Montreal, the GMHL. This league was founded by the former KSL Quebec Montreal Young Kings organization as well as Team Quebec Brick. Quebec has always been a hockey hotbed, producing elite talent year after year. After countless conversations, I saw the perfect fit: their hockey expertise combined with my business experience to create something truly special.
After working closely with the Klevr team and the GMHL leadership, I found the sweet spot—a scenario that delivers everything Ottawa families have been asking for.
That’s why I am incredibly proud to announce that the Ottawa Wolves will officially be competing in the GMHL Super League for the 2025/2026 season!
And it doesn’t stop there—I’ll also be joining the Executive Board of the league to help shape its future and ensure it becomes the best in the country.
The Best of Both Worlds for Ottawa Families
This move is a game-changer. Here’s what it means for our Wolves families:
🏒 Elite Competition, Less Travel – We’ll compete against top-tier talent in the GMHL with less travel to the GTA.
🏒 Affordability – By running the Wolves as a non-profit and bringing in corporate sponsors, we’re aiming to make private hockey more accessible than ever.
🏒 Access to Both Super Leagues – Our players will not only play in the GMHL but also have the opportunity to compete against KSL teams in optional tournaments throughout the year.
It’s a win-win scenario—one that puts our kids first and allows them to develop at the highest level without leaving their hometown.
I want to thank the Klevr team for their support in helping me find the perfect solution for our families. This is about more than just one team—it’s about giving Ottawa’s young athletes a pathway to success while keeping them close to home.
It’s go time.
